if you find it hard to eat 1000 calories, drinking 1000+ calories is easier. i am severely underweight as well but recently starting to gain weight by drinking mass gainer in-between meals and doing weight trainings. but seriously though, 1000 calories a day shouldn't be hard at all, as others said, you might need to see a professional if drinking milkshake/mass gainer still doesn't help.
